EPIT’s AI Usage Policy
Our commitment to safe and ethical AI use
At the Education Partnership & Innovation Trust (EPIT), we believe in using technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI). in ways that enhance educational opportunities and uphold the trust of the communities we serve.
As we explore and apply AI in our programmes, tools, and partnerships, we are guided by a strong commitment to safety, transparency, and shared responsibility.
Transparent and purposeful
We only use AI when it adds genuine value to the learning and development of people and communities. We will always be clear about when and how AI is being used in any work we do together.
If AI is part of a resource, tool, or process we co-design with you, we’ll explain its role, its benefits, and its limitations, so you can make informed choices.
Your data, your Control
Your trust is essential. We take every measure to keep your data and that of your learners or communities safe:
- We never use partner or learner data to train third-party AI models.
- Sensitive content (such as personal identifiers and images) is never processed through AI unless explicitly agreed upon.
- We only work with trusted AI providers who meet New Zealand’s data protection standards.
Supporting people, not replacing them
AI can offer helpful suggestions, improve efficiency, or spark ideas—but it doesn’t replace human insight, relationships, or professional judgment. We ensure our AI tools are designed to support educators, not override them.
You’ll always have the option to choose whether or not to use AI-enabled features in our work together.
Designed together, evolving responsibly
We see AI as part of a wider journey of innovation. We co-design responsibly—with educators, learners, and community voices at the table. We welcome feedback to help us continue improving.
We’re committed to using AI that’s inclusive, culturally aware, and grounded in the real-world needs of Aotearoa’s diverse learning communities.
